Gratitude for Talents and Abilities

Each of us is gifted in some way. It might be in sports, band, dance, drawing, painting, martial arts, choir, writing, editing, crafting, photography, memorization, storytelling, comedy, baking, sewing, woodworking, conversing, listening, gardening, knitting, decorating, problem-solving, doing magic tricks… The list could go on forever! Each of us is good at SOMEthing.

Let’s be grateful for the ways we are each gifted and grateful that we are all gifted in DIFFERENT ways.

Parents, let’s help our kids discover their talents and abilities and do all that we can to encourage them in these unique areas. Spend some time together as a family talking about where you each see your own talents and the talents of each family member. Point out each other’s strengths and aptitudes; thank God together for each of these giftings; and discuss various ways you can each use these gifts in life. It’s good for our kids to hear us acknowledge what we know we are good at. Self-awareness and confidence don’t have to equal arrogance.

I’d love to hear what talents and abilities you and your family possess. Share them in the comments!
